Plain Composer

Use Plain Composer for a direct, written message: a product update, a founder note or a focused follow-up. Its visual HTML blocks keep the layout simple while retaining the shared composer's customer data, brand and personalization controls.

Content runs top to bottom in one straight list. There are no sections or columns, and no layout to fuss over.

Add a block

Two ways to insert one. Type / where you are writing and pick from the menu, filtering as you type and confirming with Enter. Or hover an existing block and click the + beside it, which inserts after that block, or Alt-click (Option-click on a Mac) to insert before it.

The same hover reveals a drag handle. Pick it up to move the block somewhere else in the list.

The menu is grouped:

Images take a source, alt text and dimensions. YouTube videos, X posts and links render as static preview cards with a link to the source.

Format as you write

Select text and a small menu appears with a link, bold, italic, underline and strikethrough.

Everything else lives on the block itself. Click the handle beside it and you get Typography for the font, size, weight, line height and letter spacing, and Turn into for changing a paragraph into a heading or a list.

Personalize a passage

Select the text you want written per recipient and press Adaptyle in that same menu. maxinja then rewrites only that passage for each person who receives the email, using their own data, and leaves everything around it exactly as you wrote it. Select it again and the button reads Remove Adaptyle, which drops the instruction and keeps the words as written.

Drop in a value you already have

Insert Variable for a single value, like a first name, and Liquid Tag for logic such as an if or a for. Both come from Liquid, and both can also be typed inline while you write. The fields available to you are whatever the email's data list says it needs, plus your brand kit under branding.

Nothing is personalized while you type. Open Preview and press Generate preview to see the finished result against your sample data. That is an AI call and spends credits, so maxclicks waits for you to ask.

Refine a block with maxinja

Select a block and use the maxinja input below the right-hand tabs. Its label follows your selection; a request there carries the current email and, when available, the selected block. State what should change and what should stay fixed. Use Checks to review readiness after the edit and Personalize to generate a recipient sample.

The static media cards link to the original content. They do not put a working video player, live X feed or interactive web page into the delivered email.

Moving to code later

Switch editor offers Code Editor, which writes your blocks out as HTML into the HTML code editor.
